Weekly Devotional Friday: Proverbs 4:26

This is one day late, but I did not forget about it.  Here is this week's devotional:

Proverbs 4:26, "Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure."

Ponder.  The very first word of this verse pops out at us quicker than a popcorn kernel popping out of its seed shell.  Ponder means to meditate, to think deeply about what is vastly important in life.  In this case, Solomon makes it clear to us to ponder the path of our feet.  To meditate, think deeply about what needs to be completed in order to remain steadfast and firm in the battlefield of temptation.  And, if we ponder the path of our feet, a magnificent promise is given to us----- all your ways will be sure.  Wow!!!

Good reflections, Joshua. It's interesting to think about, really. In this chapter, Solomon writes that we should ponder our path, but in 3:5-6, it seems to be the opposite. It's a balance, really. God has given us discernment to use, yet we know that as we commit to trusting in Him and making wise choices, He will lead. Proverbs 16:1-3 summarizes well:

The plans of the heart belong to man,
but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the spirit.
Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.
