The Case for Intelligent Design Pt. 3

Finally, the last great piece of evidence for intelligent design is the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record. Where are the transitional forms? The fossils that show a transitional change of one species to another completely different species. If evolution is fact, there must be many transitional forms. Even Darwin wrote about it in his book On the Origin of Species, “The number of intermediate varieties which have formerly existed on earth must be truly enormous (Darwin 291). Where are they? According to A.J. Monty White, “Since Darwin’s time, however, literally millions of fossils have been found, but still the transitional forms are absent (292). The transitional forms are absent!

What about the supposed “missing links”, or what about Haeckel’s embryos? O.K., well, what about the supposed missing links? A.J. does it again, “Most so-called missing links fall into three categories: extinct ape, living ape, or human (292). Not ape-human, or extinct human gorilla, but three separately different species. The so called missing link Lucy, known as Australopithecus afarensis, was actually an extinct ape. Lucy was created to look like an ape-human demonstrating bipedal locomotion, but the bones were later revealed to be pure ape. What a hoax? Some evolutionists even tried to create some type of ape-human by commixing the bones of apes and humans. That is wrong. It is one thing in finding crucial evidence, but creating evidence for a handsome benefit of disproving Intelligent Design. I don’t get it, but it does prove that scientists are still desperately trying to find that one single form of transitional evidence. This leads us right into Haeckel’s infamous embryos. Haeckel’s embryos were primarily created to reveal that mammals evolved from fish. A fish has gill slits, so Haeckel tried to prove that humans, in the early embryonic stages, have gill slits as well. These human “gill slits” were drawn on the embryos to prove that the development of fish is similar to the development of humans. This is just another example of the deceiving nature of human beings in creating evidence rather than in finding factual evidence. Most of all though, the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record presents a big gap in the fossil record that could only be filled by intelligent design.

In conclusion, the faculties of irreducible complexity, the laws of nature, and the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record produce astounding logistical, scientific, and basic evidences, for the support of an Intelligent Designer. Based on the overwhelming evidence presented and my own beliefs, I believe that a God had to have created this world with the intricate design of his own hands. The complex design of the universe with the many logistical factors in between proves that there is a God, and he alone should receive all the praise, honor, and glory.

Hi Joshua, thank you so much for following my blog! I only read part of this post, but I want to read all three parts, it looks really good.

Finally, the last great piece of evidence for intelligent design is the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record. You got three problems.

1. You're being dishonest. There's countless fossils of transitional species.

2. Even if you're weren't lying, why would you think a lack of evidence for evolution would be evidence for anything else? Instead of criticizing the evidence for evolution, why don't you provide evidence for intelligent design? I know why. There isn't any evidence for intelligent design, which by the way is also known as supernatural magic. Of course there's no evidence for magic, and of course only scientifically illiterate and gullible stupid people believe in magic.

3. Why should I waste my time here with your comment moderation? It's obvious you love censorship (like most cowardly Christians).

If you want to find out how wrong you are about transitional fossils, click my name for an example of one of the most famous discoveries.

You can also google "whale fossils". The fossil record that describes the transition from land animals to whales is complete.

Or you could continue spreading lies about science to defend your childish belief in supernatural magic.

By the way calling magic "intelligent design" to make it sound less childish doesn't work. You're not fooling anyone. Magic is still magic and it's still idiotic no matter what you call it.

I hope you read my comments before you censor me. I noticed Christians are terrified of education and I'm almost certain you are no different.

Bobxxx,
I did not post your other posts because of your use of extremely vulgar language. That will not be tolerated on this blog sight that is used to glorify and honor Christ. I pray that you will repent of your sins and place your trust in Jesus Christ. It is no fairy tale.

Have a Great Day,
Joshua :D

Bobxxx,
I am not terrified of anything. Thank you very much. The Bible says to do not fear because the Lord is with you wherever you go.

Ben,
I am sorry for rejecting your comment. I did it on accident because Bobxxx used vulgar language throughout his comments and I had your comment highlighted, which rejected it. I am very sorry. I will definitely be more careful next time.

Bobxxx,
I am very glad to know that your amphibian-like fish ancestor is your great-great-great..... Grandpa. I have a human ancestor. An ancestor that actually resembles my appearance. A human.

Have a great day,
Joshua :)

Nice summation, Joshua. I like how you clearly and distinctly you organized your three arguments for intelligent design very clearly and distinctly. That really helped me understand the issue better, and in a more organized organized fashion. So, anyways, thanks so much for taking the time to write that paper and share it with us!

And BTW, thanks Joshua for being courageous enough to watch out for and protect your readers by moderating your comments. It takes courage to stand alone and be a wacky, do-good, intolerant Christian like yourself. ;) It's not easy to draw a line in the sand and be willing to put God first in everything you do, and I just wanted to say thank you, and let you know that I totally respect you for what you're doing.

Quick note: You don't have to post my next comment unless you want to. I don't know how exactly the conversation might go from here...and to be honest, I don't know whether I should be stepping into this morass in the first place.

So anyways, it's your call. In other words, I'll leave this matter to your discernment and discretion.

God is faithful. =) God bless!

Re: Mr. bobxxxx:

1. Yes, you’re right that there are numerous fossils which some have claimed to be transitional species, but (1) there are far fewer of these fossils than there should be if traditional Darwinism were true, are there so few of these, and (2) many of those fossils which are claimed to be transitional species are at best arguable, esp. as many of them (such as the Archaeopteryx) are incredibly similar to one of the two types of creatures they are supposed to be linking.

"Geological research, though it has added numerous species to existing and extinct genera, and has made the intervals between some few groups less wide than they otherwise would have been, yet has done scarcely anything in breaking the distinction between species, by connecting them together by numerous, fine, intermediate varieties; and this not having been affected, is probably the gravest and most obvious of all the many objections which can be raised against my views." Charles Darwin, Origin of the Species.

"Well, we are now about 120 years after Darwin, and . . . . ironically, we have even fewer examples of evolutionary transition than we had in Darwin's time." Field Museum of Natural History Bulletin 50:25. Dr. David Raup (curator of the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History and an expert on the fossil record)

"The fossil record is much less incomplete than is generally accepted." (Paul, C.R.C, "The Adequacy of the Fossil Record," 1982, p. 75.)

"Enthusiastic paleontologists in several countries have claimed pieces of this missing record, but the claims have all been disputed and in any case do not provide real connections. That brings me to the second most surprising feature of the fossil record...the abruptness of some of the major changes in the history of life." (Ager, D., The Nature of the Stratigraphical Record, 1981, p. 20.)

"The fossil record had caused Darwin more grief than joy. Nothing distressed him more than the Cambrian explosion, the coincident appearance of almost all complex organic designs..." (Gould, Stephen J., The Panda’s Thumb, 1980, p. 238-239.)

So anyways, obviously you are entitled to your own opinion, but there is a reason why many evolutionists have moved on to a punctuated equilibrium theory, namely, in order to explain away the obvious gaps in the fossil record.

2. Bear with me here, and then if you disagree with any of the following propositions, go ahead and shoot.

(a) Science operates primarily by observation and inductive reasoning, and therefore, as a general rule, science can only make observations as to the existence of something. It is incapable of proving conclusively that something does not exist. E.g., if I say I believe that unicorns exist, the best science can do is to argue that no one has ever seen any unicorns in person.

(b) What I'm trying to get at is that science can never prove that God exists. At best, it can only argue that no one has ever actually seen God in person. (Now, for the record, I do believe there have been some who have seen God in person, or at least His glory, but I think that's another subject for another day.)

(c) OK, so let's say you're not really an atheist, just an agnostic. You may or may not be able to prove that God does not exist, but you are unconvinced that He does exist, and you will not believe in God until you have proof of his existence. In that case, I guess what I'm wondering is what sort of proof you're looking for the existence of a Creator. Are you looking for empirical evidence (along the lines of "we can only know for sure what has been proven by science"), or will any sort of deductive reasoning suffice?

(d) It's also possible that you do believe in God, and I'm completely misunderstanding where you're coming from... In that case, ignore all of the above... :)

Anyways, those are just some thoughts. If it does come down to it, I have no problem saying flat-out that I believe in the existence of a Creator solely by faith. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;"

BTW, Mr. bobxxxx, if you do nothing else, please take the time to read a couple verses like Romans 3:10-28, Romans 5:6-8, Romans 6:23 and Ephesians 2:8-9, and John 3:16, Acts 16:31, and Romans 10:13. Do it just to humor us if nothing else. =)

Like Joshua has suggested, we are all "sinners in the hand of an angry God" (as Jonathan Edwards would put it), and if you die today, and God exists, where would you go - to heaven or hell? Speaking for myself, I am sure that I would go to hell if not for the saving blood of Jesus Christ.

Now maybe you're a better person than I am. In fact, you may very well be. :) But the Bible says that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." That includes Mother Teresa as well as Adolf Hitler.

You're familiar with the Ten Commandments, I'm sure. You may be a perfectly "good" person in the world's standard, and yet be a sinner in God's eyes. God's standards are so high, He considers hatred to be as serious as murder (Matthew 5:21-22), and He says that whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in her heart. Have you ever told a lie in your life, even just one small one? I can only speak for myself, but if I've done even just these three sins, by my own admission I'm a lying, murdering, adulterer, and you think God is going to say I'm "good enough" to go to heaven?

Now...of course this is all moot if you don't believe in God, but I'm reminded of Pascal's wager, which states in essence that you have everything to lose if you reject Christ and it turns out He exists after all (in which case you will be condemned to hell), and relatively little to lose if you choose God, and it turns out He doesn't exist after all (in which case you will simply disappear into nothing). Anyways, this is slightly off-topic, but we wouldn't be sincere Christians if we didn't let you know what we believe before letting you slide off your merry way into hell, right?

3. LOL. This is Joshua's blog, so wouldn't you agree he just might have the right to decide what comments he does or does not want to publish on here? =)

Elliot,
Thanks for the kind words. You are a great friend like Josh in Michigan. Thanks for the support. You did a great job of arguing in support of creationism. I was pretty impressed by your argument with knowing little about the issue. It is a significant topic that must be addressed and you can definitely see both sides of it. Thanks for the comments Elliot and sorry for posting your comments two days late. It has been busy around here lately. Talk to you later. :D

Your brother in the faith,
Joshua :D

I tried to post this before, but I don't think it worked. (If it did, then you don't have to post this one Joshua)
Um, Mr. BobXX, you wondered why you were wasting your time on this blog. I know why most people waste their time on Christianity- because they call us cowards when they are the ones who fear. Every human carries that fear that perhaps there is a God. And you say there is no proof of intelligent design. Look around you please! Look at this glorious world in all of it's perfect splendour and tell me that there is no God! And there is proof in the very first chapter of the Bible- which I encourage you in all earnestness to read! God divided the waters above from the waters bellow, the Bible says. Do you know, that only in modern day science do we realize that there is water in the sky? For thousands of years we had no idea? Well the Bible proclaimed it, right from the start, and it can't be denied that the Bible is a historical book. Read the Bible, Bobxx. Please trust that I am praying for you. Read the Bible- and you will see that no book so infallible could have been written by any man. You don't live to die Bobxxx. And you're not some glob of cells that came from an ape. You didn't just get here. You don't live to die. There is a reason. There is a God. I don't see how anyone can be willing to live life otherwise.
