D.A. Carson Quote

I am teaching our Men's Bible Study tomorrow and I came across this excellent quote by D.A. Carson that fits in well with what I have been studying in Colossians 2:11-15. Here it is:

"The great redemptive act that freed them from their sins (Rev. 1:5) and established their right to reign as priest and kings (Rev. 5:9) is also what gives them authority over Satan and enables them to overcome Satan and all of his accusations (Rev. 12:11). Satan accuses Christians day and night. It is not just that he will work on our conscience to make us feel as dirty, guilty, defeated, destroyed, weak, and ugly as he possibly can; it is something worse: his entire ploy in the past is to accuse us before God day and night, bringing charges against us that we know we can never answer before the majesty of God's holiness. What can we say in response? Will our defense be, 'Oh, I'm not that bad!'? You will never beat Satan that way. Never. What you must say is, 'Satan, I'm even worse than you think, but God loves me anyway. He has accepted me because of the blood of the Lamb.'"

Great quote. We aren't saved because we're great, but because our God is greater. Sounds like a great Bible study!

1 Peter 1:17-19

And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

When the devil brings up our past sins to the Lord, I can imagine our heavenly Father answering and saying, "Sin? I see no sin when I look on my child. He is without condemnation." Truly, there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Praise God!

Hi Joshua,

I just read your comment on one of my posts, 'Studying' and had to say wow. That challenged me big time. At that time, school was the most stressful thing for me. I needed motivation to go on. But what I didn't realize then was what you were telling me.

Perhaps, one of my biggest struggles now is consistent Bible reading. I am known to be lazy with that. Therefore perseverance doesn't come easy. Thanks for reminding me of what I needed to hear. I'm so glad that you are able to get so lost in the Word like how you told me. When I wake up really early in the morning, I get into Scripture, but oh how I want to do that at every time of day.

Your sister in Christ,
Amber

Cool! I like that quote. I'm crazy for those types of things...

And I completely understand the whole following thing... it was all very complicated. Funny, that doesn't come as a great surprise. Everything I do is complicated.

thanks for re following :)

God Bless

Hi, Joshua,

I found your blog, somehow-though I can't remember where/when/how-, and really enjoyed reading it.
