The Common Sense Question Answer

Now, the answer to the common sense question is *drum roll*...............................

To begin, the glass of water with ice cubes is relatively cold when placed on the table.  As time passes on, the temperature of the glass is still cold, because the hunched together ice cubes are doing everything they possibly can to keep the glass from warming up.  But, the ice cubes are working against the clock.  As slowly and delicately as can be, the ice cubes begin to melt.  This is a bad sign for the ice, because the ice will melt away as the temperature of the glass of ice water works its way toward room temperature.

Now, I know most of you answered the question correctly.  It is a fairly simple question.  But, how many of you knew that this was one of my calculus questions?  Granted, it was from the first section in the book, and it probably draws the line closer to pre-cal than calculus.  However, it goes to show that you are all smarter than you think.   I have found out that this usually comes as a significant revelation to some people, so that is why I asked this question.  Smartness is not about talent.  Anyone can achieve straight A's, if they push themselves, discipline themselves.  My encouragement is to push yourself in everything you do for the glory of God, because the reward will be great.  It is not easy, but it will well be worth it in the end.

On another note, calculus, in the form of functions, is all around you.  People, who say there is no use in calculus or mathematics to them, have no idea what they are talking about.  You all set a glass of ice water on the table.  Don't you?  When you do that, you are experiencing the calculus involved as the ice begins to melt away within the glass.  Calculus, in itself, is everywhere.  :)

Last Chance to Answer Question

This is the last and final call to answer the common sense question.  I will post the significance of the problem and the answer tomorrow.  God bless you all.  :)

Common Sense Question

If you could please give me your best answer to this question, I would be much obliged.  Here is the question:

You put some ice cubes in a glass, fill the glass with cold water, and then let the glass sit on a table.  Describe how the temperature of the water changes as time passes.

This is a very significant question.  I know it is random and I picked it straight out of the blue.  However, I will explain the significance of this question after everyone has had a chance to answer it.  :)

Post Reading - Open Discussion

I just wanted to know how many of you read my posts. If you do, can you please put in a quick comment? That would be great. The purpose of this is to see how many of you are, well, interested in the posts that I write. You can comment on what type of posts you would like to see more of. If you want me to finish the Attributes of God series, I am working hard on that. What I have been doing all this time is separating what I am going to talk about in succession with the other attributes of God. After God's love, we will dive into mercy and grace, as you all voted for. Next on the list will be the holiness of God and so on. His justice, righteousness, and the three omni's. We will also take a glimpse of God's sovereignty, immutability, and joy. This time has not been wasted. I thank you all for your patience. So, if you could please comment, that would be very helpful for me. Thank you!
